First Things First Early Childhood Summit Keynote Speaker Announced

The FTF Early Childhood Summit is a unique opportunity for supporters of early childhood education and health to learn, share and grow. Early registration opens on May 15.

Keynote Speaker
David Lawrence Jr. will address the Summit at the celebration luncheon on Tuesday, August 27. A tireless advocate for children, Mr. Lawrence retired as publisher of the Miami Herald in 1993 to devote all his energy to promote investment in early childhood development and education.

David Lawrence Jr.

“My focus for a considerable number of years now has been children, especially in the early learning years when 90 percent of brain growth comes to pass. I have come to believe, undergirded by research, that the smartest possible investment we could make in the future of our beloved country is to get children off to a good start in life and in school.”

“Let us remember that children are entitled to victories. Let us remember that within each of us is great power to give them victories. Let us remember that while you and we have done a lot, we have so much more to do.”
