Kernels for Change: Strategies to Help Families Change Behaviors
At this workshop, you will learn how evidence-based kernels can change the expression of genes related to health and wellbeing through a process called epigenetics. All of this is framed in the notion of human capacity to create nurturing environments.
You will learn about four types of evidence-based kernels:
- Reinforcement kernels that come after behavior to strengthen it.
- Antecedent kernels that set up behavior before it happens.
- Relational frame kernels that are ways of just using language to influence actions.
- Physiological kernels that are way to change behavior directly, but are not prescription medications.
