Breastfeeding Resources for Home Visitors

One of the challenges faced by many new mothers is breastfeeding. As a home visitor, you are a trusted resource for your families and may field questions and requests for resources. The great news? Through both Strong Families AZ and the Arizona Department of Health Services you have access to both resources for your families as well as professional development for you!

August is National Breastfeeding Month and is a great time to get reacquainted (or utilize for the first time!) all the resources on breastfeeding available to Arizona home visitors.

The Strong Families AZ Home Visitor Portal has an entire section on breastfeeding courses and webinars at the Professional Development tab. Webinars are not only available live, but if you register and cannot attend the live course, you receive a link to listen and learn on your own time. Additionally, by accessing theCommunity Services and Support tab, you can help a new mom search for support by county.

In addition to the Strong Families AZ Home Visitor Portal, the Arizona Department of Health ServicesBreastfeeding Program website has a number of resources. The information is also available in Spanish.

As always, be sure to check the Home Visitor Portal for new courses and supports and be sure to join us for this year’s home visiting conference in Glendale September 20 and 21! See you there!

Make sure you visit the Home Visitor Portal on the Strong Families AZ website. Register to have access to ongoing professional development opportunities, resources and more.
